Northshore Housing Needs examines housing, workforce, infrastructure, attainable homeownership and regional economic health across St. Tammany, Tangipahoa, Livingston and Washington Parishes.
Why this project exists
The purpose of this website is to encourage a fact-based conversation about responsible growth on the Northshore. Too often, opposition to growth is driven more by perception than verified data, influencing leaders to restrict needed housing without fully considering actual demand, appropriate locations or the types of development being proposed.
This website provides credible information to help residents and decision-makers evaluate where housing is needed, what types of housing are appropriate, and how responsible development can support the Northshore’s long-term future.
The project also asks how housing choices affect the ability of people at different stages of life to live, work, own, rent, move, downsize and remain in the communities they call home.
It is not a developer organization, a real estate company, a political campaign, a candidate organization or an industry lobbying organization.
The objective is to make credible evidence easier to understand, compare, question and verify so that perception does not outweigh facts in decisions affecting housing, infrastructure and the regional economy.
